An attitude of gratitude.
Celebrating Thanksgiving this week is the perfect time to look at your business and your life and acknowledge all that which you may be grateful. There are many people and events that contribute to your quality of life and contentment beyond the obvious. We've become accustomed to a safe house, enough food, and healthy family and of course we can be grateful for that. But lets think broader. What else is there that are meaningful or valuable to you?
There are people we meet every day that spread goodwill. We barely notice them as there is no connection beyond momentary kindness. My DC offices were across from a large office building with a food court. It made it easy to grab lunch, but most of the places closed by 1:30 or 2:00 PM. I would often be busy until then, and incredibly stressed, so I became a regular at a sandwich place. The guy who worked there always greeted me and remembered my order. We'd laugh about it as he'd recite it to me as I approached. Immediately my mood was lightened. We started to talk and built a wonderful conversation about sports. I don't know his name, but I still smile thinking about our talks and his kindness. He had no idea how much our brief interactions helped me. Kind people are everywhere. We are all seeking connection. It is never too late to express gratitude.
Making a conscious effort to express gratitude brings positive health benefits, mainly increased happiness/lower depression, reduced stress, better sleep, improved focus, higher self-esteem, increased patience, and increased connection socially. Practicing gratitude releases natural chemicals in the body that benefit your well-being. Another benefit!
I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and am grateful that we connect via this blog. Lets move that forward and connect via https://calendly.com/libby-coaching or at [email protected] and start doing the work to bring you increased gratitude in your business and self in the coming months.
