To Libby With Love

Feb 14, 2023

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone and everything. I am single, so I don't have to spend time with the commercialized version of today. Today, I love myself. Who I am, who I was, and who I will be. Every version of myself is just perfect and deserves to be loved. So I am celebrating myself in the past, present, and future and standing proudly about what I have accomplished and learned along this journey.

Do you need to do some thinking about what you have overcome and the successes along the way? Do you need to celebrate yourself? YES. Absolutely YES. You do.

As an entrepreneur and business owner, being alone is common. But there are many benefits to being alone:

  • You get to know yourself and work on yourself
  • You build strength and resilience
  • You clear your mind and open it to new ideas
  • You follow your passions without obstacles from others
  • You find out who is there for you

It is hard to be alone at first, even lonely, but getting past this opens a universe of possibilities. Small business owners need this time to refresh and regroup. Without this action of self-care, you will burn out. Stay fresh, refocus, generate new thoughts, and keep your energy high. Business ownership is a full contact sport and it is imperative that you are in mental and emotional shape to deal with it.

If you've read some of my other posts, I went through hell and back while in Washington DC and Naples, FL. I met some of the best clients, colleagues and friends ever, but also dealt with pure evil, screwed up, sociopaths every day. I half-kiddingly say that I worked with some of the biggest a-holes to walk the earth and learned from them. I choose not to act like them, but if pushed, I have the tools for it. I also met and worked with some of the smartest, most compassionate and innovative people ever and choose them instead. At each step in my career, I chose to act and trusted myself to make a change. Not always as fast as possible, but when the time was right for me.

My path has taken twists and turns and each time I build on the wonderful experience I've gained and have relied on the wonderful people in my life at that time. I can look back now and just say thank you to everyone who was horrible to me. I am stronger. To those who stole, cheated and lied about me, I am stronger. To those who counted me out and tried to hold me down, I am stronger. I spent the time and reintroduced me to me, then worked on what I needed to work on. It was a hard lesson to learn, but I would not have it any other way.

Today, I show love to every Libby who lived within me. I am able to be compassionate to my former self who just needed to be loved, give love to my present self for the strength I've shown and my accomplishments so far, and a big hooray to my future self who continues to pursue her passions and lived her best life.

For those of you reading this, stop and say thank you to yourself and give yourself a break today. Spend the time alone to celebrate and love yourself . You are doing your best and you are perfect the way you are.

We all have work to do and when the time is right, take the leap of faith. Until then, Happy Valentine's Day to all of us. I'll take all the chocolates. Send them to [email protected] or https://www.calendly.com/libby-coaching.
